Operation Stack in force as winds delay Channel ferries
Gale force winds in the English Channel have delayed sailings from Dover and led to traffic disruption in Kent.
Kent Police have implemented phase one of Operation Stack on the M20, which is when lorries queuing to cross the Channel park on the motorway.
Police said Dover port and Eurotunnel were open but advised passengers to check with their operators before setting off on their journeys.
Dover Harbour Board said P&O, SeaFrance and DFDS Seaways services were delayed.
Kent Police said the coastbound M20 was closed between junction 11 for Stanford and junction 12 for Cheriton.
A police spokesman said Operation Stack was being brought in to avoid causing gridlock on Kent's road network and would be in operation from 16:00 BST.
