Boy and dog rescued from Greenhithe quarry

A teenager and his pet dog have been rescued from a quarry pit in Kent.

Firefighters were called to the 100ft-disused quarry in Greenhithe on Wednesday night.

The 17-year-old boy was found stuck on a ledge after climbing into the quarry to find the Jack Russell, which had squeezed through railings and fallen.

A specialist rope rescue team made their way down from the top of the quarry and winched the pair to safety. Both were uninjured.
