Herne Bay driver dies after crash on A28

A 50-year-old man has died in hospital after the car he was driving went out of control and hit the central reservation on the A28 in Kent.

The man, from the Herne Bay area, was driving a Fiat Ulysse when the accident happened at 19:20 BST on Saturday.

He was driving towards Canterbury when he crashed between Birchington and St Nicholas-at-Wade.

Kent Police said the man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate.

The road was closed until nearly 00:30 BST while the circumstances of the crash were investigated.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw the collision to come forward.
