Lydd army base fire prompts window closure warning

Residents in the New Romney area have been warned to keep their windows and doors closed following a fire at an army base in Lydd.

A two-storey building in the army training facility, in Galloways Road, has been on fire for more than three hours, creating a huge plume of smoke.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service have said there are no reports of anyone trapped.

Fifty firefighters and eight fire engines are currently attending the fire, which was reported at 15:58 BST.
