Two men have been arrested after a 15-year-old boy was assaulted in Dover.

The two men from Dover, aged 28 and 31, are being questioned by Kent Police over the attack in Worthington Street at about 21:45 BST on Saturday.

The teenager remains in a critical condition in hospital with serious head injuries following the assault outside a newsagents shop.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, in particular the drivers of two small silver cars.

Det Insp Jon Holl said the cars were believed to have been a Peugeot 206 and a Volkswagen Polo, which were seen travelling through the scene at about the time of the incident.

He said the boy had been in Worthington Street with two teenage friends, one of whom had gone into the newsagents.

The teenager had been waiting on the street outside when "he had an altercation... and some punches were thrown", the officer said.
