Fire at Deal Town football club 'suspicious'

A fire that severely damaged a sports pavilion in Kent is believed to have been started deliberately.

About 30 firefighters were called to Deal Town FC's Charles Sports Ground in St Leonard's Road, Deal, at about 17:15 BST last Thursday.

Kent Police said a 17-year-old boy from Deal had been arrested in connection with the fire and released on bail.

The building was empty at the time of the blaze and no-one was injured. Detectives have appealed for witnesses.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Detectives investigating a fire that severely damaged the pavilion at Deal Town Football Club last Thursday are treating it as suspicious."
