Kent council leader Paul Carter re-elected

Paul Carter has been re-elected the leader of the ruling Conservative group on Kent County Council.

Mr Carter faced a challenge for the leadership from councillors Nick Chard and Keith Ferrin.

He said: "I'm delighted to receive such a clear mandate. There's much to do and I'm relishing getting on with the job."

Mr Carter was first elected to Kent County Council in 1997 and represents Maidstone Rural North. He became leader in 2005.
