Kent cyclist dies from head injuries

A cyclist has died in hospital after suffering a serious head injury in a fall from his bike in Kent.

The man, in his 60s, who lived locally, was riding down Long Hill, Old Wives Lees, near Chilham, at 09:05 GMT on Thursday when the incident happened.

A spokesman said it was unclear what caused him to lose control of the bike.

A passing motorist called an ambulance and the man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford, where he died that evening.

Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit is dealing with the inquiry.

"We are appealing for anyone who was in the Old Wives Lees area and saw the man out cycling to contact us so we can piece together exactly what happened," said PC Mick Sayer.
