Elderly man killed in south Kent road crash

An elderly man was killed and a teenager suffered serious injuries in a road crash involving two cars in Kent.

The 81-year-old was fatally hurt when the Nissan Micra he was driving was in collision with a Mazda in Ivychurch, near New Romney, on Thursday.

A 19-year-old man who was driving the Mazda is being treated at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for injuries described as serious.

His passenger, a 20-year-old man, received minor injuries.

Kent police have appealed for information about the crash, which happened at 16:10 GMT.

They want to trace the driver of a van who is thought to have stopped at the scene and called the emergency services.
