Broadstairs woman escapes cooker fire

An elderly woman was treated by paramedics after a fire at her house in Broadstairs.

Fire crews were called to Chandos Road just before 16:00 GMT when a cooker caught fire at a three-storey house.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the woman escaped the property before crews arrived.

Two fire engines and an ambulance were sent to the scene. Paramedics treated the woman for the effects of inhaling smoke.
