Driving instructor Martin Eke guilty of Folkestone rape

A driving instructor has been found guilty of raping a 21-year-old woman in Kent more than 25 years ago.

Martin Eke, of St Mary's Road, Tonbridge, was convicted at Canterbury Crown Court after the crime was reinvestigated by detectives working on cold case reviews.

He raped the woman in October 1986 as she walked home alone after a night out with friends in Folkestone.

Eke, 46, who had denied rape, is due to be sentenced on Thursday.

He was arrested last year after detectives reopened the case. DNA taken from him when he was arrested in 2005 linked him to the attack.

The woman died in 2001 of renal failure.
