Teenage pedestrian hit by car in Maidstone critical

A teenage pedestrian is in a critical condition after he was struck by a car in Kent as he crossed a one-way street.

The 17-year-old boy was hit by a black Hyundai in Calder Road, Maidstone, at about 18:00 GMT on Friday.

Police said the teenager, who was from the Maidstone area, suffered life-threatening injuries.

He is being treated in the Royal London Hospital. The driver of the car stopped at the scene, but was not injured. Officers are appealing for witnesses.
