A fashion graduate who studied in Kent has been given his own window display at a top department store in London.

Alex Mattsson, 27, from Sweden, graduated from the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester in 2007.

His collection is being showcased in the Oxford Street windows of Selfridges after he was named one of Selfridges Bright Young Things for 2012.

Donna Ives, Associate Dean of Fashion at the university, said millions of people would see his designs.

'Huge boost'

Mr Mattsson said he felt "very privileged" to have won such an "amazing talent project".

"The publicity has already given me a huge boost - just days after I was announced a winner, I had a double-page spread in The Metro, which really shows the scale of this project and the potential benefits involved," he said.

His creations will be on show until the end of February.

Fashion designers who trained at the UCA campuses in Kent and Surrey include Karen Millen and Zandra Rhodes.
