Fisherman Martin Hoskins found dead on freezing night

A fisherman was discovered dead by the River Medway after going on an overnight fishing trip in Kent.

Martin Hoskins, 48, of Chatham, was found in his tent by a friend.

Kent Police said Mr Hoskins had been fishing alone on a stretch of the river in East Peckham, but his death was not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Hoskins went on the overnight angling trip on 3 February - one of the coldest nights of the winter. Police have not confirmed his cause of death.

Temperatures fell to -11C (12F) in parts of the South East early in February.

A post-mortem examination has taken place but the cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Mr Hoskins's colleagues at a car dealership in Aylesford have paid tribute to him as "a good friend".

An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
