Three injured in large house fire in Trottiscliffe

Three people were hurt in a fire that completely destroyed a house in a village in the North Downs in Kent.

A woman aged in her 80s had to be rescued by firefighters from the detached property in Pilgrims way, Trottiscliffe, near Maidstone.

An elderly man and his daughter managed to escape from the building earlier. All three suffered smoke inhalation.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it took crews nearly five hours to extinguished the blaze.

It is not yet known what caused the fire, which started at about 01:45 GMT on Saturday.
