A £30m plan to redevelop part of Dover has received planning permission.

Dover District Council has approved the project and the company behind it, Laker Developments, hopes work will begin by the end of the year.

The area, from the River Dour to St James' Street, will include shops, houses, restaurants and a hotel.

Council leader Paul Watkins said: "This is excellent news for Dover District and is a major example of continuing investor confidence in the area."
