Deal cyclist's nose broken in bottle attack

A 63-year-old cyclist was left with a broken nose and bruising when he was attacked with a bottle by a man in his early 20s in Kent.

Police said the unprovoked assault happened in Gilford Road, Deal at 19:35 BST on Thursday.

The attacker was one of two men, who appeared drunk, who were walking towards the seafront.

He threw one bottle at the cyclist and shouted and swore, then hit him on the face and back of his head with another.

The attacker ran off when residents came out to help the victim. His companion came back to apologise.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the two men, or shopkeepers that might have sold them alcohol, to come forward.

The attacker is described as white, 5ft 9in tall and slim with short brown hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit.
