A Tonbridge man who stole kit from Australian Olympic sprinter Andrew McCabe has been ordered to pay him £500 in compensation.

Daniel Turowski, 28, of Alexandra Road, was also given a 12-month community order with a supervision requirement.

He admitted theft at an earlier hearing before Sevenoaks magistrates.

Turowski took a bag containing personal items and Mr McCabe's national kit from a bench beside the running track at a Kent school on 3 August.

The Australian athletics team had been using Tonbridge School as its training camp.

Mr McCabe was training for the 4x100 metres relay when the incident happened.
