Morrisons Maidstone bomb hoax: Man charged

A 48-year-old man has been charged in connection with a bomb hoax at a supermarket in Kent.

The man, from Headcorn, has been charged with blackmail after a suspicious package was found in an aisle at Morrisons in Maidstone.

The store was evacuated on 10 December after a phone call reporting a bomb. A controlled explosion was carried out.

The man has been bailed by Maidstone magistrates to appear at the town's crown court on 14 January.
