A man has been treated in hospital for facial injuries after an incident described by police in Kent as an unprovoked racially aggravated assault.

The 33-year-old victim was with his wife when a group of youngsters started throwing snowballs at them in Sheepfold Lane, Park Farm, Ashford, on Sunday.

When he asked them to stop they started racially abusing him and then viciously assaulted him, officers said.

His wife was also assaulted and received minor injuries.

Four boys aged between 16 and 17 were arrested.
