The jury in the trial of a leading Kent huntsman accused of trying to kill his former lover has retired to consider its verdict.

Brian Fraser, 63, who was master of the Ashford Valley Hunt, denies trying to murder Louise Leggatt on 15 March 2012.

Maidstone Crown Court heard Ms Leggatt suffered leg injuries when she was shot as she tended her horses.

Mr Fraser, of Criol Lane, Shadoxhurst, denies attempted murder but admits possessing a firearm without a licence.

The hearing was adjourned until Wednesday.
