Record numbers apply for free Kent attraction tickets

Record numbers of people have applied for 17,000 free tickets to Kent tourist attractions.

The tourism organisation Visit Kent is offering the tickets to more than 120 attractions as part of My Big Kent Weekend.

More than 47,000 applications were received in just five days for tickets for the weekend of the 23 and 24 March.

Applications for tickets via the My Big Weekend website and at visitor information centres close on Monday.

Wingham Wildlife Park, Howletts and Port Lympne animal parks have had the most applications, a spokeswoman said.

Attractions available include castles, steam trains, football matches and wildlife parks.
