The main road between Challock and Faversham in Kent is to be closed for more than two weeks while a new water main is laid.

The £270,000 project to upgrade the pipeline follows a number of recent bursts.

The A251 Ashford Road will be closed until 17:00 BST on 14 April, South East Water said.

The work is part of a 16-week project to upgrade over a mile (1.8km) of water mains in the area.

Businesses along the route of the roadworks will remain open as usual.

Diversions will be put in place, and drivers will be given directions on how to get to those businesses affected by the road closure, the water company said.

Motorists can view the diversion route planner and map on the South East Water's website.
