Ashford flood meadows to be recreated

New meadows in Kent will benefit wildlife, reduce the risk of flooding and improve water quality, it is has been claimed.

The South Park Town Meadows Project aims to reinstate meadows next to the River East Stour.

The new sites, near Ashford town centre, would be similar to those that formed part of the landscape a century ago, the Environment Agency said.

The work, which is expected to take two months, is to start later this year.
