Kent Police have started a murder inquiry after the death in hospital of a man found with serious injuries in a Folkestone car park.

The 45-year-old victim, who has not been named, was found with head injuries in Pound Way, Folkestone, shortly before 08:30 GMT on Saturday.

He was taken unconscious and in a critical condition to the Royal London Hospital but died earlier on Sunday.

Two men arrested on suspicion of murder are in custody.

Three people arrested on Saturday on suspicion of assault have now been released, including one man who has been bailed pending further inquiries until 6 December.

Detectives believe the attack took place at about 03:30 GMT on Saturday and have appealed for anyone who was in the area or may have information to come forward.
