Kent Police are being investigated over "potential gross misconduct" in connection with a woman's death, the police watchdog has said.

The body of Anne-Marie Birch, 47, was found at an address in Whiteness Road, Broadstairs on 7 November.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is looking into Mrs Birch's contact with the force.

The conduct of a control room team leader, supervisor and two call handlers is being investigated.

Mrs Birch's husband, Lee Vincent Paul Birch, 55, of Lymington Road in Westgate-on-Sea, has been charged with her murder and is due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on 28 January.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said the force was assisting the IPCC with their investigation into contact with Mrs Birch, which began in September.

All four members of staff have been served notices informing them that they are being investigated.
