Kent Police inquiry into handling of rape claim

A detective constable at Kent Police is being investigated by the force's professional standards department about how a rape claim was dealt with.

Kent Police said the officer was suspended from duty but had since been reinstated on restricted duties.

The force said the investigation was "in relation to the way an allegation of rape was handled".

It said it took all allegations of sexual offences and domestic abuse very seriously.
