Pearl d'Souza admits Canterbury house fire murder bid

A woman has admitted three counts of attempted murder following a fire at a house in Canterbury.

Pearl d'Souza, of Keats Corner in Canterbury, and three others were treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns after the blaze on 18 April.

The 37-year-old, who is also known as Pearl Ivy Thomas, had been due to face trial at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday but changed her pleas to guilty.

She has been remanded in custody while psychiatric reports are carried out.

D'Souza, who is expected to be sentenced in the new year, had admitted a lesser charge of arson at a previous hearing.
