A body found in the River Medway is missing man Patrick Lamb who disappeared in Maidstone in December, police have confirmed.

The 28-year-old was last seen in the early hours 13 December after a night out in the Kent town.

His body was discovered in the river at Cuxton Marina on Saturday.

Kent Ch Insp Susie Harper said: "I would like to reiterate my thanks to all those who have supported the search for Patrick."

"This includes Kent Search and Rescue, and the many people who have shared appeals for information via social media, and volunteers who gave up their own time to assist with the search."

Mr Lamb disappeared following a night out at Maidstone's Bar Chocolate.

A Facebook campaign was set up to find him and there were several public appeals for sightings.

His body was discovered by a girl on a boat who spotted something in the water and raised the alarm.

An inquest into his death is expected to be opened at a later date.
