Police remain in Hersden after man shot and girl stabbed

Detectives remain at the scene of a shooting where a man was shot by police after a teenage girl was stabbed.

Marc Traylor, 40, from Hersden, near Canterbury, was critically injured after his 16-year-old daughter suffered stab wounds at their home.

She is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Police negotiators and firearms officers were called to the property at 23:20 GMT on Sunday. Two knives were recovered from the scene.

Neighbours reported hearing two shots.

The shooting has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
