Hersden girl stabbed 'conscious' after police shooting

A 16-year-old girl who was found with stab wounds after her father was shot by police has regained consciousness.

Kent Police said the condition of the girl, who has not been named, had stabilised in hospital.

Her father, Marc Traylor, 40, was critically injured when firearms officers and police negotiators were called to Hersden, near Canterbury, on Sunday.

His is in a critical condition in hospital, the force said.

Armed officers were called to the property at 23:20 GMT. Two knives were recovered from the scene.

Two shots were fired during the incident, according to neighbours.

The shooting has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
