A lorry driver has been jailed for 14 years for smuggling drugs with an estimated value of £3m into the UK.

Dragan Petric, of Pozarecvac, Serbia, was stopped by Border Force officers at Dover's Eastern Docks in March 2014.

Eighteen kilos of cocaine and 7.5kg of heroin were discovered concealed in the roof lining of the cab of his lorry.

The 53-year-old was sentenced on Friday after being found guilty of two charges of the importation of class A drugs at an earlier trial.

Jaswant Narwal, chief crown prosecutor for Crown Prosecution Service South East, said his conviction ensured "a huge supply of drugs stopped before it can reach the streets".
