A homeless man has pleaded guilty to murdering another man whose body was found in the porch of a Kent church.

Ruslan Piktorov, 40, of no fixed address, admitted to the murder of Trevor Hillman, 57, at the start of a trial at Maidstone Crown Court.

He had previously denied murdering Mr Hillman, whose body was found at St Peter and St Paul's Church in Church Walk, Headcorn, on 22 October.

Piktorov was remanded in custody for sentencing on Wednesday.

Kent Police said Mr Hillman, who was also homeless, was well known locally and often slept in the church porch.

The two men were talking and eating together before Piktorov punched and stamped on Mr Hilllman in a 50-minute attack which broke all of his ribs, the force said.

His body was discovered the following morning.

On the same day, Piktorov took a train to London where he approached police officers and said he "may have killed someone".
