A car has crashed into a bay window of a house in Kent after failing to stop for police.

A patrol car signalled the driver of a black Mercedes to stop before he hit a Mini and smashed into the house in Addiscombe Road in Margate at about 11:00 BST on Saturday, police said.

The driver of the Mini was taken to hospital and she was treated for minor injuries. No-one in the house was hurt.

The man was injured and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Carolann Hunt, who was in the bedroom above, said: "I heard the two cars crashing, then I heard a skidding noise and I heard a massive bang and it shook my room.

"I was frightened, really frightened and I was shaking."

Her mother, Deborah Fitzgerald, said: "My little one watches telly in that room. It was lucky they weren't in there."
