An investigation is to be launched into how a car crashed into a house after failing to stop for police in Kent.

A patrol car signalled the Mercedes to stop before it hit a Mini and smashed into the house in Margate at about 11:00 BST on Saturday, police said.

The driver of the Mini was treated for minor injuries in hospital but no-one in the house was hurt.

The injured Mercedes driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He has been bailed until 5 June, police said.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "As is mandatory, when there is police contact, the incident has been referred to the force's Professional Standards department."
