Man arrested after Canterbury flats 'arson'

A man has been arrested after a fire at a block of flats in Canterbury which police are investigating as arson.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the Sussex Avenue flats at 04:50 BST on Thursday after a fire broke out in a communal area on the second floor.

Eight residents had to be rescued but no-one was injured.

A 26-year-old man from Canterbury is being questioned by police, who are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
