Man hurt in quad bike crash in Accrington dies

A man has died almost a week after he suffered serious injuries in a quad bike crash on a street in Lancashire.

Irfan Arif, 30, was a passenger on the bike when it hit a lamppost at the junction of Augusta Street and Clement Street in Accrington last Saturday.

Lancashire Police said Mr Arif, who was from Accrington, died from a brain injury at the Royal Preston Hospital at about 0230 BST.

The 34-year-old rider remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The bike hit two women and two children, including a 10-month-old baby, when it crashed.

None of them were seriously injured.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
