Burnley woman hit by car on M65 is critical in hospital
A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car when she walked on to a Lancashire motorway.
The collision happened near junction 10 of the M65 on Saturday afternoon.
Police closed both carriageways to allow the air ambulance to land and the 44-year-old, from Burnley, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.
Sgt Malcolm Bell, from the Motorway Unit, said: "An investigation is now underway and I would appeal to anybody who witnessed it to contact police."
He added: "I would also like to speak with anybody who thinks they may have seen this woman walking towards the motorway prior to the collision so that we can try to piece together the exact circumstances surrounding this incident."
