Trike rider killed in collision with lorry in Bacup

A man died and his 19-year-old passenger was seriously injured when the three-wheeled motorcycle they were on collided with a lorry in Lancashire.

The crash happened in Burnley Road, Bacup, shortly after 1530 BST on Monday.

The men were taken to hospital by air ambulance and the road was closed for several hours.

Michael Veevers, 45, from Bacup, was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he later died.

The passenger on the trike is being treated for leg injuries at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Sgt Gareth Hill said: "The roads would have been busy given the time of day this incident occurred and I would ask people to come forward."
