Police warning before Burnley and Preston game

Police have warned football fans going to the Lancashire derby between Burnley and Preston North End to behave themselves.

The Championship teams are due to meet at Turf Moor at 1715 BST.

Lancashire police have deployed extra officers for the game as they are expecting a large crowd.

Insp Andy Carter said: "We hope both sets of supporters behave and the game is a great advert for football in Lancashire."

"Our message is for everyone to enjoy the match but be warned that anyone who breaks the law will be dealt with firmly," he added.

"It is also worth reminding people that it is a criminal offence to attempt to enter a sports ground whilst drunk.

"We will not let a small minority of people ruin it for the vast majority of decent supporters."

Fans are advised to arrive early to avoid crowd congestion.

They have also been warned car parks at the ground will closed for 25 minutes after the match so coaches can leave.
