A man from Lancashire who offered to supply people with class A drugs through his Facebook account has been jailed.

Grant Raw, 22, admitted several drugs offences at Burnley Crown Court at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Friday.

Police said they found cocaine and benzocaine during a raid at his home in Higher Causeway, Barrowford, in July.

They then discovered he had offered to supply the drugs on the internet.

The social networking site, Facebook, was contacted for a comment but has not yet responded.

Raw admitted three counts of offering to supply Class A drugs, one count of attempting to offer to supply class A drugs and one count of possessing class A drugs with the intent to supply.

Speaking after the sentencing, Det Con Dave Cottam, of Lancashire police, said: "This is the first time we have used Facebook to prosecute a prolific drug dealer.

"It should act as a warning that the police will use everything within their power to target criminals and bring them to justice."
