A Lancashire woman whose nephew died in Afghanistan is stripping off to raise money for soldiers.

Mandy Paul, from Chatburn, is organising a naked calendar, with all the proceeds going to the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.

Her nephew L/Cpl Jordan Bancroft, 25, was killed on 21 August while serving wit the regiment in Afghanistan.

Mrs Paul, who runs an ice cream shop, got the idea when her home-made buns were praised in a national newspaper.

After getting listed in the Guardian's 10 cracking bakers in the north of England, a customer's joke inspired a combat-themed calendar in memory of her nephew.

She explained: "Someone came into the shop and said 'next thing you know you'll be in a calendar' and so literally, instead of eating my buns, I'm getting my buns out."

The rest of the family are all supporting the calendar, including Mrs Paul's daughter, Louise, who is going to be Miss March.

Mrs Paul said her nephew would have supported the cause.

"If Jordan was here he'd have loved the idea but he would have insisted on being January as he always had to be first," she said.

The shoot takes place at Fulwood Barracks later.
