Man seriously hurt in Lancaster park attack

A 29-year-old man has been seriously hurt in an attack in a Lancaster park.

The man was walking home through Ryelands Park in the early hours of last Sunday when he was assaulted.

Police believe he was picked up by a taxi driver and taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, where he was treated for face and head injuries.

He was later released and is recovering at home. Police are keen to trace his attacker and anyone with information is being urged to contact them.

Det Con Sarah Cole, of Lancashire police, said: "I am keen to hear from the taxi driver who took the victim to hospital and from people who were in the area between 2am and 6am who may have noticed groups of people.

"Also, if anyone visited the all-night garage and spotted anything suspicious then please get in touch.

"This is a vicious assault that left a man needing hospital treatment and it is important the offender is caught and dealt with."
