Seven injured in M61 in Lancashire accident

Seven people have been injured, three seriously, in an accident on the M61.

A lorry and a people carrier were involved in the crash on the northbound carriageway which crosses over junction 30 of the M6 at about 0545 GMT.

Lancashire Police closed junction nine at Clayton Brook northbound for four hours, but it has now re-opened.

The casualties were taken to Royal Preston Hospital and investigations are taking place into the cause of the accident.
