Manslaughter charge over collapse death in Blackburn

A 36-year-old man has been charged with the manslaughter of a man who was found collapsed at a property in Blackburn.

John Kiernan, 38, was discovered at an address at Kingsbridge Wharf on Monday and was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

He was transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital where he died next day.

The Blackburn man accused of his manslaughter is due before the town's magistrates on Saturday.

A post-mortem examination found head injury to be the cause of Mr Kiernan's death, but further tests are being carried in order to obtain a more conclusive result, police said.
