Blackburn sudden baby death was not suspicious

The sudden death of a baby girl in Blackburn is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

The 18-month-old collapsed at her home in Billinge Avenue at 1530 GMT on Friday. She was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where she died.

Although the post-mortem examination proved inconclusive, experts believe she died from natural causes.

Toxicology and further tests will be carried out in the coming weeks to try to establish an exact cause of death.

Lancashire police said there would be no criminal investigation and have passed the case to the coroner.
