People living in the Blackburn area are being reminded they can use their household waste bins to recycle their Christmas trees.

Those with a brown garden waste bin can just chop up their tree and put it in, Blackburn with Darwen council said.

Trees can also be taken to the household waste recycling centres in Blackburn and Darwen or temporary collection points across the borough.

The council can also collect trees through its bulky collection service.

The service must be booked and costs £10.

Temporary collection points open between 3 and 10 January are at: Pleasington playing fields, Blackburn; Charles Street, Darwen; Barlow Institute, Edgworth and Black Dog public house car park, Belmont.
