Derelict hotel fire in Blackpool 'suspicious'

A fire at a derelict hotel in Lancashire is being treated as suspicious, police have said.

Crews were called to the building on Pleasant Street in Bispham, Blackpool, just before 0300 GMT and found the first and second floors alight.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the site had suffered severe damage in the blaze.

A joint investigation is being carried out with Lancashire Police into the cause of the fire.

A police spokeswoman said Pleasant Street was closed to traffic but has since re-opened.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact them.
