Radio presenter Becky Want in Comic Relief stand-up act

BBC Radio Manchester presenter Becky Want has made her debut as a stand-up comedian raising money for Comic Relief.

She admitted to being "terrified" before taking to the stage at the Frog & Bucket comedy club in Manchester.

"People laughed!" she said. "And not just my people - everyone was laughing at me!"

Becky had just four weeks to learn the art of stand-up comedy before performing in front of a live audience on Monday 14 March.

Her challenge was to 'Beat the Frog' - to survive a five-minute open mic slot at the well known comedy club on Oldham Street. And she did!

"It was just so far out of my comfort zone," said Becky. "It's been a massive mountain to climb for me because I'm not funny."

Becky said she was "really pleased" at what she had raised for Comic Relief, thanking her listeners for being so generous.

"But would I do it again? Not a chance! Never, never, never!"

Red Nose Day is on Friday 18th March.
