Man dies in three-car crash in Skelmersdale

A man has died in a crash involving three cars in Lancashire.

The cars collided on Grimshaw Road, near the roundabout with Stannanought Road, Skelmersdale, at about 1500 GMT.

Police said one of the cars, a silver Chrysler, overturned and landed on its roof. The driver was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

The drivers of the other two cars were unhurt. A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Grimshaw Road was closed in both directions for accident investigation and diversions were in place.

Sgt Patrick Worden, from the Road Policing Unit, said: "I would appeal for anyone who may have seen either the collision itself or anything prior to the collision to come forward and contact police."
